(First Post) Voicemark's "savvy" tip for Business Travelers visiting New Jersey ...
When I originally created this blog, I created it in order to offer suggestions to all you Business Travelers who are contemplating visiting "Jersey" - and even for those of you who are frequent travellers to the Garden State (The Official Nickname of the State of New Jersey).
From this pont forward, the blog will, indeed, expand beyond "travel tips". I look forward to seeing your (strongly moderated) comments here sometime soon.
So, here goes ...
Voicemark's New Jersey Business Travel RULE #1:
BUSINESS TRAVELERS ....
If you're arriving at Newark Liberty International Airport and need to get to your business destination - especially if it's located in a "suburban" County - like Morris, Bergen, Passaic or Somerset, etc. ... then, please ... STOP! THINK! and ...
DO "NOT" JUST GRAB ANY OL' CAB FROM THE CURBSIDE TAXI DISPATCHER AT NEWARK LIBERTY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT!!!!
Why not???? Well, no offense to these guys (and gals) who are my professional brethren, but, honest-to-goodness, I've heard (and SEEN) enough horror stories from my poor, heartbroken passengers or their friends and colleagues who DID grab the first cab ... and the FIRST THING that the cabbie did - once the passenger got in - was to turn around and ask them how to get to wherever they were going!!!!!
Now, some of you who are reading this may have already figured this out - but for the frightening number of the rest of you, here is "my" solution ....
Step #1. (My "strong" suggestion as for what to do): Have the ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT of the OFFICE YOU'RE VISITING call a cab (or, even limo) company that is close to the area you'll be visiting (and with which they probably already have a working relationship) and have your Assistant RESERVE A CAB OR LIMO to go the airport to pick you up!
It's SO MUCH EASIER getting a ride from a Driver who'll already be there - looking for you when your plane lands (or ready just off-site to swoop in and pick you up when you've signalled their dispatcher that you've gotten your bags) - and who KNOWS WHERE YOU'RE GOING - and will greet you, personally and politely, at your Baggage Claim Carousel (or at the designated Passenger Pickup Area or Door) and REASSURE YOU that he or she KNOWS HOW TO GET YOU to where you're going!!!!
The time, aggravation, stress, fear, lack of comfort and (often) lack of air-conditioning (or, Heaven forbid ... HEAT!!!) that you'll AVOID by NOT TAKING a "curbside" cab or limo will MORE THAN BALANCE OUT the extra expense of a quick, quiet, comfortable, RESERVED, peaceful air-conditioned/heated ride to your destination.
Get it????
Remember: Plan ahead and Call ahead (or have your Assistant do it)!! Plan to be picked up by someone who knows that you're coming and knows where you're going!!!
That's it, dear Readers!!
Stay tuned for more from "Voicemark" - and, have a safe journey!
Namasté,
Voicemark
